On the 5th, 6th and 7th October 2009 Andy Jervis attended this years Institute of Financial Planning Annual Conference at the Celtic Manor Resort near Newport in South Wales. Andy spoke in two of the sessions on the topic of Lifeplanning, a subject of great interest to financial planners at this time as they get to grips with new ways of operating as a result of the forthcoming implementation of the Retail Distribution review.
In many ways the Conference felt as though the time has arrived for the new profession of Financial Planning to emerge into the mainstream. There is clearly real enthusiasm to adopt business practices and processes that put a firm's clients at the centre of the circle, and to learn how to develop a robust business model that is based on something greater than simply selling more and more financial products.
This spirit was exemplified by some of the speakers and attendees, and when he wasn't sitting in a session with a sharpened pencil avidly taking notes, Andy was making use of his trusty voice recorder to obtain interviews with some leading figures in the financial planning world. We are delighted to be able to make these recordings available, and hope that you enjoy listening to them.
